What to expect:

Discovering the Cyanotype Process: You'll delve into the history and science behind cyanotype, understanding the magic of light-sensitive chemistry and how it creates stunning blue and white prints.

Creating Beautiful Paper Prints: Learn the techniques of coating paper with the cyanotype solution, arranging botanicals or other objects on top, and exposing them to sunlight or UV light. Watch in awe as your compositions come to life with exquisite details and rich blue hues.

Design Your Own Bandana: Explore the versatility of cyanotype by applying it to fabric. Bring your creativity to the forefront as you design and print your very own bandana, creating wearable art that is both stylish and unique. Experiment with different arrangements and compositions, turning a plain textile into a wearable work of art that reflects your personal style.

No prior experience is necessary; this workshop is open to all skill levels. All materials will be provided, including papers, bandanas, tote bags, botanicals, and the necessary chemicals. Just bring your enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to create something truly remarkable!

Tasty apps and bevs will be provided.

Around one week before the event, you will receive an email with further details. We will be printing in the sun so class dates and times are subject to change. If the workshop needs to be rescheduled to a new date, registered participants will have the option to transfer their registration to the new date or request a full refund.

What is cyanotype?

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces beautiful blue and white prints. It involves coating paper or fabric with light-sensitive chemicals and exposing it to sunlight or UV light, resulting in unique and captivating images.

Will the workshop be in person or online?

These workshops will be held in person at my art studio in Bozeman Montana. I eventually plan to create an online course.

Who can participate in the workshop?

Our cyanotype workshop is open to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. Whether you have prior artistic experience or are completely new to cyanotype, you'll find the workshop engaging and informative.

What will I learn in the workshop?

During the workshop, you will learn the step-by-step process of cyanotype printing. This includes coating materials, arranging botanicals or objects, controlling exposure times, and developing your prints. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore applying cyanotype to fabric and creating personalized bandanas and tote bags.

Do I need to bring any materials or equipment?

No, all the necessary materials and equipment will be provided. This includes cyanotype chemicals, papers, botanicals, bandanas, tote bags, and any additional tools required for the workshop.

What should I wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and footwear that you don't mind getting stained or dirty. Gloves will be provided.

Can I take my prints home immediately after the workshop?

While the prints, bags, and bandanas will need time to fully develop and dry, you will be able to take them home with you. I will guide you on the appropriate drying time and provide guidance on handling and preserving your prints.

Can I bring my own botanicals or objects to use in the workshop?

Absolutely! We encourage participants to bring their own botanicals or objects to personalize their cyanotype prints. However, we will also provide a selection of botanicals for you to choose from if you prefer.

Can I register for the workshop on the day of the event?

It is recommended to register in advance to secure your spot, as spaces are limited. However, if there are still available slots, we may accept walk-in registrations on the day of the workshop. We recommend contacting us beforehand to check for availability.

What is the cancellation policy?

By purchasing a ticket you are agreeing to this cancellation policy. Cancellation requests received 5 or more before the workshop date will be eligible for a full refund of the workshop fee. In the event that we need to reschedule or cancel the workshop due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, I will notify all registered participants in a timely manner. If the workshop is rescheduled to a new date, registered participants will have the option to transfer their registration to the new date or request a full refund.
